Keep getting calls from this number saying they are from Telstra and I have a serious problem with Windows that they need to fix. I don't use Windows.

Just had a call from from this number saying they were from Telstra and saying that I was going to lose my internet and for 3 months because hackers were using the internet to try and get info from my computer and do illegal things in my name. The lady actual said she was from the technical dept of Telstra and quoted their address in Sydney ( she had a heavy Indian accent ) and said she was going to talk me through fixing the problem and needed my computers details. She originally asked if I was the holder of the internet account which made me sus and I said before I do anything can you tell me the name that my account is billed to, which they should very easily do but next thing you know she is giving me all these excuses why they cant get that info and her voice got louder and louder as she was professing her sincerity, to the point that she was almost shouting at me so I simply hung up. These people must think we are idiots

Further to my last post regarding (02) 4349 1985 I contacted Telstra and they were able to block this number and another two from (02) 6172 8611 and (02) 4965 9573, all claiming to be from Telstra Technical Department about my computer. Today I also received a phone message from a private number stating I was about to be arrested by the police for not paying my tax. The number they gave to call back on was (02) 8310 8092. I also reported this to Telstra. Fortunately I was wise to all these scams but felt it time Telstra was notified. The more of us who report these numbers the better. And yes the Government should be stepping up their game and assisting Telcos with this problem.

One of Telstra's most complained about numbers. They say there is nothing they can do.
Other dud "Telstra" numbers are (02) 6172 8611 ,(02) 4965 9573, (02) 4965 8048, (02) 9304 4360, (02) 9675 7742, (02) 4349 1985. Telstra are aware of some as they used to be live Telstra. Some were Optus.
Telstra cannot suggest any way of stopping these. Also, I'm on NBN and NBN (the new hi-tech way of doing things !!) has no way of blocking calls.
If these turkeys are trying to do a scam then why are they so rude once you ask a question?

Same just happened to me. Instantly obvious it was a scam. Completely unprofessional sounding (even by Telstra' standards) with loads of noise in the background and incomprehensible gobbledygook about them knowing a number on the back of my computer. Played along for a while and when I told them it was a scam they told me to mind my language and then said they would out their manager on to talk to me. They put the 'manager' on the phone and he said they were calling from Telstra technical support in Melbourne. I said it was rubbish and the worst scam I'd ever seen. Then the 'manager' told me I was very genius, intelligent man and told me to go #### myself and that he would come and find me and #### my mum. Charming I must say. Just hang up as soon as you hear any of their claptrap and report to whoever might do something about it whoever that is.

,18/4/16 2calls today
1) claim from Telstra, Internet problem, asked for identification, gave me some no. Then I hung up. Had this nuisance call before.
2) same phone no. But no reply for while, then Female voice says "Goodbye"
Have reported to Telstra previously as we are on "Do not disturb list". Placed phone no. On list , but said it would take 30 days to register. No nuisance calls for short while, but now back again. Frustrating. Especially if you don't have glasses on.

Since when does Telstra have the ability to detect hackers on individuals computers on an Optus line?? I told them I have apples and kids school computers. She Insisted I turn them on. I said they're at school and I'd tell the school IT help desk so she hung up.. Really annoying scam. Block this number.
