do not acknowledge identity, do not acknowledge any debt. If your debt is 6 years old or older between last acknowledgement or payment of debt it is statute barred and cannot be recovered. By acknowledging the debt you are allowing them to take you to court to extend for 7 years. If the debt is minor, again, don't acknowledge who you are or acknowledge the debt but simply say, i don't acknowledge any debt with your company, I have never signed any contract with your company. If you believe you have the right person and you have a non statute barred debt you can pay to have me served and take me to court but if you continue with the phone calls I will counter sue you for harrassment, and put it in writing in an email. Wait 30 days and start to make complaints with industry ombudsmen about harrassment. They will not serve you or take you to court unless the debt is really substantial and they won't if the debt is statute barred. Note every call made to you and the time and place, keep telling them to cease contact and take you to court. To serve you and take you to court they will need to spend over 15000 dollars in solicitor fees and a process server and possibly a private investigator to find you and they aren't going to bother. If you are in this position your credit score is already f*cked so don't worry about that just now. If they take you to court, the exorbitant interest of probably 20% annual they have put on the original debtor amount will be reduced to 2% so if they are saying they want 6 grand out of you, it's likely they'll only get two grand in court. Plus these guys paid 5 cents in the dollar for the debt so a judge may not consider the entire amount valid if you have not agreed to or signed anything. and you can always go bankrupt, if you structure your life right that can be entirely painless.
