I have no idea if this number is a scam but it sure sounded like it. The woman didn't say where she was calling from. She knew my full name and the last 4 digits of my credit card, which she referred to as a "Visa or Mastercard" - she doesn't know?! I hung up. She called back immediately and repeated her script, saying the card had been hacked and she wanted to send a new one. I hung up again before she asked for more personal info.

I called my credit card provider - the number on the website for stolen cards. After confirming my ID she "checked on something" and called back (from a similar but not identical number - but both these numbers were different from the one that initially called) saying the card was compromised and she'd put a stop on it. New card coming in 3 days, leaving me with no way to buy groceries.

I told her FYI the initial call sounded like a scam. I've no idea what to make of it. For all I know, my compromised details ended up in that first caller's hands and she wanted to extract more info in order to use it... while at the same time my cc provider noticed the problem and stopped my card. Or the first call was genuine and the woman I spoke to afterwards was doing what the first woman tried to do - stop the card and send a new one.

Either way, there's no suspicious transactions on my card and I received no SMS about any of this, nor does the website indicate a problem with my account when I log in.

I'm appalled that my cc provider is unable to contact me without sounding like a scam.

Said my card had been compromised by a merchant error?
Hung up and rang BoQ. Said nothing showing their end.

Said they were calling from Qantas Money. Knew my credit card number. Something was off and I saw that the number had reviews saying it's a scam call. The caller was unable to confirm my personal information to confirm they were not a scammer so I terminated the call. They did not call back.

Genuine. Received a message. Called the number listed on their website and they said they blocked my card and had all my information. Citibank does things in a strange way and their call centres are overseas so it can seem like a scam.

They are persistent scammers, I don't have or ever applied for a credit card in any form, once you block this number they call using another similar number, they call at any time of day and any day of week, don't leave message and can't ring them back

Regarding my Credit Card Call application. 1st caller said all I need is payslip. Which I uploaded on e-mail link. I was asked by the caller "the month of my birth" and the first letter of my Mother's maiden name. I gave that.

Next day the second caller - wanted the DL and bank statement. Before that for identification asked "date of birth" and mother's maiden name. I am expecting a third call.... I am pretty sure the caller will ask for "year of birth" and the spelling of my mother's name! Sounds like phishing to me!

The e-mail link says application submitted (cannot upload any more supporting docs). Why they didn't ask in the first place!
E-mail address to send is supporting docs to newca1 @ citi.com. I am not sending it. The e-mail address is not in citibank website.

Phone call to 13 24 84 tells me to check my status with mobile phone #, automated voice says no application!

Sounds all dodgy will give it a pass...and block the 02 8027 200

This is Citibank but they provide branded credit cards for other banks such as Virgin Money...it’s engaged but I applied with VM today so I know it’s them (and I work for BOQ which VM is part of)

Listened to message left, very faint, couldn't hear or make out whether they were speaking English or not, in the message left. Believe that this is a scammer.

Genuine call from Citibank. I got a voicemail from the number asking to call back about a security issue with my Citibank account. Called Citibank directly instead who confirmed it was them.

i didn't answer but after looking at this site I rang the number on the back of my credit card and yes they had just tried to call me (at 7pm) because of suspicious activity. I blocked my card and was issued a new one. I am grateful to the posts on this site that advised doing that.
