Claimed to be from Bank of Queensland. Knew my full name! Thought it was legit, they told me to cancel my cards. I was silent for a bit, couldn't quite understand her, when she asked if I could hear her, I told her I couldn't only the children in the background, she hung up!

Caller: Claimed to be Coles MasterCard fraud

Scam!
When I said I would ring back direct she said to call number on back of card.
Obviously spoofed the number as when I called direct there was no recording of me being called. Fraud department said this is increasing as people often think the caller is genuine if they say please call the number on the back of the card.

Caller: Citibank Credit Card Security

Verified: REAL
.
I missed a call from this number. There was an automated message left saying it was from Citibank Card Security and asked me to call back on either of 2 other numbers.
.
I got a general number to call off Citibank's website, and rang that instead.
.
They put me through to Citibank's Credit Card security team.
They CONFIRMED that they'd called me. A merchant notified them of a data breach. I'd purchased from the merchant back in May 2019 (It's now Nov 2021) and Citibank wanted to cancel the card and send me a new one.

Missed call - said it was from Qantas Mony and to ring back on a 1300 number in relation to suspicious transactions. The 1300 no was not contact number listed for the credit card on the App.

You need to call your card issuer directly. Not the number that called you. It is a call centre number that is one way calls only.

LEGITAMITE. Received a call stating the from Coles Mastercard Security Team. They said they had info that my card details had been compromised. The accent was not very clear. They wanted my permission to block my card and transfer the details to a new card. I was not convinced and would not agree nor give her any info. She was polite and said to call the number on the back of my card if I felt uncertain about the call. We ended the call.
I called the number on the back of my card and they confirmed their security team had called and left a note on my file. Apparently my card details were picked up from an illegal terminal scanner and they want to cancel my card and issue a new one. This is what I did and it is all good now. No issues. They did a great job and I am very grateful that I have this service to assist me before being shocked by illegal transactions. All happy here :) Its legit. Call your card issuer direct if you are unsure. Dont just post a comment here saying scam without following thru further.

Said they were from Coles Mastercard calling about a fraudulent transaction. Checked online and there are no transactions pending and no messages there for me. I suspect a scam.

It is legitimate. They called regarding security concerns on my Qantas credit card. I hung up as it does come across as a scam but when I called the Qantas Money number directly they confirmed the concerns and cancelled my card.

It’s a scam. I don’t even have a Citibank account. Lady hung up when I challenged her to be fraudulent.

Legit.

All they did was tell me my Virgin Money (another Citibank subsidiary) credit card was being cancelled today due to a security breach. They then told me the address to which they'd be mailing the new card, and that I'd have to organise an alternative method of payment for any direct debits due in the next 5-7 working days.

At no point did the lady on the phone ask me to provide - or even confirm - any information. She just rattled off my name and mailing address, advised of the reissue, and that was the end of that. For that reason, I'd say this isn't a scam.

I worked in call centres when I was at uni (way better money than retail or food service!); banks often outsource these sorts of jobs to third party call centres, so the primary customer service centre won't be aware they exist, or recognise the phone number if you give it to them.

I can understand why people think it may be fraudulent. I did too. The message said it was Qantas card security. The two numbers they gave me to call back on don't come back to Qantas (or any other bank) when Googled. So I rang them using the number on the card and they confirmed it was them and their had been unusual activity.
Having said the scammers can spoof any number to appear when they call you. So always make contact directly using known safe numbers.

It is legitimate... Suncorp use Citibank for their Visa card. If you phone Suncorp and get put through to Credit Card Services, they confirm that they were trying to phone. Perhaps if you phone Citibank directly, they won't know anything about the call as you have a Suncorp credit card not a citibank credit card. I presume that the Suncorp credit cards are handled by a separate section of Citibank.

Just had a call from this number - 2pm on a Sunday afternoon (WA). I didn't answer as it's similar to other numbers that were clearly spam. Who the hell calls from a bank on Sundays? I think it's suss; they did not leave a message and if they really want to speak to me they have my email address.

Called 2 days in a row. Answered second time. Could not understand. Don’t think it was English. I don’t have a Citibank account as mentioned below.
