The (02) 8027 2000 number was engaged when I rang back, but they left a voice mail with a 1300 number and it was Qantas card services to get more info regarding a recent credit card application

I had these guys call me at work on Thursday night, they had said they had reports of suspicious activity over seas and read out my details to confirm it was me, and then said that my credit card would be cancelled and a new one sent out. When I went to use it on Friday the card was cancelled, so now just waiting to see how legit it is...

I got a call from this number, didn't answer it. No voicemail message was left. After searching the number on here it all seems about City Bank, so I would say it is a scam, as I don't have any banking with Citibank at all.

They keep calling me three times a day but don't leave a voicemail. If they are legitimate why don't they leave a message! I won't be answering.

Called my work landline (I work in HR) and said she needed confirmation of an employee's last 4 digits of his mobile number. The woman did not sound professional at all and had a strong accent. I advised I cannot divulge such information without written permission from the employee, if he is one.

Legitimate call and they left a voicemail stating they were calling from Citibank Card Security in regards to activity on my account. Made some large transactions last night booking travel and they called to verify. If you still doubt this is legitimate, you can always contact the Card Security department on (02) 8225 0035 or 1300 550 216 and ask them to confirm.

Advised that they were from CitiBank and I had problems with a security breach on my credit card. I asked several questions regarding my card that Citi would know, she hung up. Another scam.

I've just received a call from a bloke (heavy Indian accent) from the number (02) 8027 2000 claiming there is suspicious activity on my Citbank card and that he was going to cancel it and reissue a new one. He knew the final digits of my card and my home address which is very concerning. I contacted Citibank and was told there was no warning flags on my card. It sounds very much like a relatively sophisticated scam. Am now thinking I should cancel my card anyway, but Citibank says if there is any suspicious transaction I can challenge it with them anyway.

Caller: Supposedly Coles Credit card

So angry right now - had call on this number from vile woman who constantly interrupted me so I eventually hung up. Supposedly reporting suspicious activity on my card but couldn’t tell me what or from whom, then tried to claim they were calling every single Coles customer to advise their cards may have been hacked so they would cancel and reissue. Considering I’ve just had a new card recently this is particularly irritating, and extremely unlikely, however if it is legit then Coles must be going to lose a hell of a lot of business if they really are that unsecured

Totally scammy but really clever. They asked me to call the number on the back of my Coles MasterCard. So they obviously knew what type of card I’ve got. I called and the call centre person assured me that they haven’t called. They flag accounts when they call. So super clever, don’t answer!

Another Citibank Customer

Caller: Citibank Security

I ignored the call as I thought it was a telemarketer. They left a message that they were from Citibank Security. Tried to call back but the number was engaged. Called Citibank and the security section had actually tried to call me as a merchant had a data breach and my card details had been stolen. Seems that the account had not been used so no harm done; old card cancelled and a new one to be issued. Can't fault their service. Well done Citibank

Definitely spam, the comments on this site that indicate it is a legitimate call, are also spam (incorrect). I have checked with the card issuer.

I have definitely been scammed of my credit card details but I'm not 100% sure about whether this number is a scam too. This number left a voice mail from "no-name-provided" bank requesting to speak to me about my credit card security. I had received 4 text messages from Coles MasterCard for the last two days providing me a SecureCode when I had not used my card at all. I've only just put two and two together so I called the official Coles MasterCard phone number to query it and yes it turns out that someone had tried to use my credit card twice in the last two days so I had my card blocked and am being sent a new one.
If you are concerned about your card's security call your Bank's OFFICIAL PHONE NUMBER, don't risk contacting the phone numbers left by this call and most definitely DON'T GIVE THEM the security code on the back of your card. When I called my bank they NEVER asked for that information to verify my card. 💳

Caller: Virgin Credit

I didn't answer the call and a message was left to ring back Virgin Credit using the number on the back of my card. After verifying me with security questions I had given them they informed me that there had been fraudulent activity on my credit card. They were cancelling the card and issuing a new one.
