Caller: Email Email received regarding incorrect application of a discount on an old Real Insurance policy, resulting in refund being due (small amounts for each year the insurance was held and discount incorrectly applied). The email asked us to call 1300 919 022 to provide latest bank account details, but could not see this number on Real's website. Rang Real Insurance directly and had it confirmed that the refund of insurance premium (even from 10 years ago) is real. Real Insurance operator was unable to directly transfer, but did confirm 1300 919 022 is the correct number.

I was skeptical also! Call the number on the Real Insurance web site. Say that you got a text notifying you of a refund. They will connect you to the correct department. They knew my vehicle and gave me the dates of the insurance cover. Obviously they are CYA to prevent a penalty from ACCC in offering refunds proactively. I vote for NOT A SCAM.

I contacted them. Gave me my bank details and they said they would refund around $69. That was a month ago. I am still waiting and each day I wait, begin to think it is a scam.

Caller: Real Insurance SCAM !! Supposedly a rebate of $23 is due to me for over-payment on car insurance over a 2 year period.. Caller had some of my old details correct (landline phone number and superceded email address) possibly obtained from an old data breech source ?? I have never had any car insured with Real Insurance. I declined to give my banking details, caller said it would have to be donated to a charity, presumably if I agreed he would ask again for my banking details.. Others saying they were refunded may well be false reviews forwarded by these same scammers. BEWARE !

Caller: SMS Received a text message from RealIns with a number to call 1300 919 022 regarding a refund. As with most people these days was a bit wary of a scam so I called Real Insurance on 131948. Was transferred to refund department and was informed that the refund due was $6.64. Told them to donate to a charity.

I have received a letter and attachment from Real Ins urging me to call the 1300 919 022 number to get a refund related to an old policy I held between 2014 and 2019. As the letter did not clarify why I was owed a refund and looked a bit suspicious I will phone a different number shown on their official website and get redirected if necessary. But I will not be phoning that number as I could not find it on the Real Ins website. I urge you to do the same.

Stated that they were from Real Insurance and that I was owed a refund on my insurance policy for a car I sold over 4 years ago. Wanted bank account details which obviously I wouldn't provide. Told them to send me something in writing, so then abruptly advised they were donate my refund to charity. I terminated call.
