I did a survey thing to get points to buy something on a game App. Included what I would support. Obviously this relates to one of the things I said I would support - child poverty. What happens is that they autocall. If you answer and no one is available to take the call, it disconnects. All you need to do is go to your recent calls on your phone, click on the information icon and block the caller. Nothing further will come through from that number.

Dear (07) 3606 0825, One way to guarantee that I will never give to your charity it to leave constant missed calls on my mobile, and not answer when I call back. Congratulations on your abominable campaign.

A girl with an Irish accent (speaking on behalf of "Save the children", whom I indeed give some money to on a monthly basis) said she was calling customers to collect some money to support victims of the earthquake in Nepal. When I said I would be happy to support should she send me details by emails, she said that was not possible, thanks and goodbye.

They are a company called Pareto Phones,

They are registered company that fund raise on behalf of numerous charities, I called the cerebal palsy alliance and spoke to the General Manager himself who confirmed this,

I've worked in sales for a long time and they have a pretty crummy campaign strategy, its a shame because the charities they raise money for are amazing

The name of the company is called Perato Phone and they hassle people out about donating. They allege to do it on behave of various charities. They gather numbers from anywhere they can, including the phone book, sensis, etc. This was told to me by the person who answered the phone when I rang them. Their office number is (07) 301 5400 if you wish to contact them directly to have your number removed from their database. They refuse to disclose where they got my number from.

Previous "make a wish" foundation donator

My experiences the same as others. Calls started after a recent significant donation to the Make a Wish Foundation. It's a pity for everyone as those of us targeted I suspect are likely to be altruistic and giving by nature. I know past givers are likely to be future givers but this does feel personally abusive.

Pretty much, I've had the same outcomes as most people on here. They never leave a voice mail message, they hung up on me when I answered and of I have called them back I get some recorded message about a charity that isn't mentioned and no details to do anything.

Friendly girl looking for monthly contributions for Guide Dogs Australia. Googled the number while she did her spiel and found this site. Could be a generic line charities hire to run campaigns? I don't give out my card details to random callers, that's just common sense, so I told them I would make a donation via the website, she was really pushing for payment over the phone, which felt dodgy, but could just be because they work to KPI's.... anyway, I'm blocking number and making a donation via Paypal through the website. Charities shouldn't suffer just because we all have trust issues!

Why does everybody call charity calls a "scam". A scam is trying to take your
money by dishonest means for dishonest reasons. All these whiners take time to complain in these forums but can't take a minute to just block or put selves on the DNC register...........I get several calls EVERY DAY & learnt fast - if no message is left - it's a
Charity call or similar. I either call back or block. Easy.

Careful if you ring back you may get a big charge on your phone bill!!!!
this is one of the ways they raise money!
All of it goes to a private person who is the calling you!
Trick when a call comes in you don't know type the number into google and you get here, then
save the phone number in your phone as a new contact!
Name it DO NOT ANSWER SCAM
then block it
that should be the end of that one

Answered as I was busy and didn't notice the number. Young man asking for me by my first name. I just hung up. I am on the don't call register so can't see why I have to put up with this rubbish.

They called again today. Answered the phone and they hung up. Called the number back. Recording said it was from "a charity I may have supported in the past". They had an email address I could use to ask them not to call anymore. More likely it would be to grab my email address so they could contact me through another medium.

Blocking the number.
