My friend got this message and these scammers need to get a real job

That’s absolutely not true, why would they randomly send you an authorisation code when you had not contacted them.

Text message pretending to be PayPal. Also sent email.

Caller: 0424 623 439

I got a text 3.36am saying:
Congratulations! Now you can upgrade your Zip account limit due to the good records. Please click zip.limiit.link

How did I tell?
1 - I don’t have Zip
2 - the language used “due to good records”..
3 - double i used in limit

I guess the PayPal lie got old..

Caller: scammer

Sent to my mobile, 100% scam do not open anything with those numbers, they also had the persons name I sent gift to. The same day.

Received text message stating that $500usd had been requested by a Frederick Do who I do not know. I logged into my PayPal app, as well as via the browser, and there was a request or decline for this amount. I declined the request and now it has a strikeout through and a “cancelled - request received”. I also got an email saying that my account had been accessed fraudulently and a US number to call which was different from the legit PayPal number (and why US not AUS number?). I also took the extra precaution of closing my account, but now have trouble opening a new one as verification code also comes from this number.

The below was a text, six months after they had texted a paypal confirm number so that if you look at your text history, you might be tricked into thinking that the text is from PayPal.

Paypal Security Alert: Did you sign into your account at 08:55 AM NZDT, 02 Nov-2022?  If yes, please reply "Y".  If no please reply "N".  Text message and data rates apply. 

Text saying they are from Paypal. Total rubbish. Scammers should be strung up by the testes

Came up on my phone as coming from the Katoomba area. Hung up when I answered.

Caller: Text message from PayPal

Received text message stating that Barbara Randall requested payment of $1499.99 Australian. I do not know this person. There was a link to pay which I did not touch. I logged into my PayPal app, and later through browser, and there was a request or decline for this amount. I declined the request for payment and now it has a strikeout through the amount and it states “cancelled - request received”.

Received "security code" from sender claiming to be PayPal. I do have an account which I never use - certainly not recently. Probable phishing scam

Received a text message from this number- says paypal to confirm if i used my account on a particular date and time-- reply Yes or No.

Text msg from Paypal, with code...have a Paypal account but not used in over 4 years...checked your site ! Blocked number !

PayPal scammer. Sends code and link in a row. How friggin annoying! Report to scam watch and block them .

Received a supposed PayPal text with a code. I believe it’s a scam.
I haven’t ordered or purchased anything

I just received verification codes. I was trying to log into PayPal at the time from my tablet but my phone was in another room charging so I has to keep going to check the code. I ended up with 2 from PayPal and 2 from this number. It was actually one of the codes from this number that allowed me in. Perhaps I was taking too long to input the number each time. Either way, no links, just verification codes. I changed my password anyway. Just to play it safe. And the only activity has been the transaction I was making at the time.

how can it be ligit, my wife doesnt have a paypal account yet she is getting texts
