I have a paypal app, so after receiving a text from this number i went to my app to find someone was trying to buy $500 worth of bitcoin using my account. I declined the transaction.

It said I had to authorise a pay now for a certain amount and gave me a name and number to press if I wanted to cancel. I didn't know the persons name or number that I supposedly was giving money to.There was also a link. I know it's a fake they sent an email as well. I reported the number and blocked it. I know it wasn't Pay Pay. I certainly haven't purchased anything for a long time.

Got text giving security code after having made purchase. Was not asking to click link. logged into paypal account- was genuine. I guess as there is no link msge is genuine.
On another matter i received a text that just had title BOOST under the i where the number appears telling to click on link as my renewal was due in 2 days (I am with boost). I knew i was not due as i sub yearly and then my wife got same message. So how do these scammers know which provider you are with and how can they send texts without showing a number. Surely telephone providers have the power to shut down ppl who are using their service for illegal activity and these ppl should be identifiable from when they were issued with the number and prosecuted.

then in whats app asked for transfer to an account as they cant access their account til they finish updating phone and needs to be today

Just be careful. I received a security code from this number which was supposedly from Paypal in the wee hours when I was asleep! I learnt my lesson the hard way. The previous time I received a similar security code, I logged into Paypal and updated my details and the 2FA was sent by a scammer which I believed it was Paypal. 2 weeks later I noticed 3 unauthorized transactions (large amount) linked to my cards on paypal.

Shared a paypal security code to my SMS when I was asleep. Just be careful as previously when I received such text I logged into paypal to update my details and it asked to enter the security code. 2 weeks later there were 3 unauthorized transactions on my cards linked to paypal.

PayPal's legitimate number is very similar 0458 872 975. These scammers have changed the number to 0485 872 975. I've changed mt PayPal password just to be on the safe side.

PayPal number is 0458. The scam text is from 0485. Be careful.

The message said - Paypal: You have a new money request. Pay at "then a link to click on" Jacorya Parker sent a request for $1399.99 AUD. This is CLEARLY A SCAM.

Text from 0485 872 975 stating 'security code' for PayPal and giving link labelled 'Save code' (but is probably a link to give them entry to the phone. Deleted.

10pm Sunday message quoting paypal transaction code number provided and not to share code.
Haven't used Paypal so presume scammer and blocked.

Got a text message asking me to verify a payment made via PayPal for an item off eBay. Thought it was suspicious so logged into my PayPal account to check if there were any message or issues with my payment - there wasn’t so all I can conclude is that this number is a scam. I’ve blocked it.

Received 5 messages in the space of 30 seconds, all saying "PayPal: XXXXXX is your security code. Don't share your code". Haven't purchased anything and checked my paypal and bank account and no money has been transferred. I have received genuine pay pal security codes from the same number in the past and used them when purchasing items. However those messages were slightly different (and at the time of purchase, not randomly) - "PayPal: XXXXXX is your security code. It expires in 10 minutes. Don't share this code with anyone"

Baffles me how I can receive legit paypal code messages and scam ones from the same number?
