The number the message came from was +63 968 665 5231, but the message itself said to text 0425 445 426

For anyone wondering how the scam works. If you put the scam phone number in your contacts under your child's name, when they later text you saying they are in trouble and need money urgently it will look like the message came from your child.

Scam text msg from number +63 968 679 6714 contains the same request for quick text msg to number 0425 445 426. Looks like someone still follow scammers.

My dad got a message from this number attempting a scam.

I have reported to Australian Gov website, Scam Watch. Today got the Hey Dad txt asking to call 0425 445 426 BS. 8th Nov 2024. f*ck ém

Identical message to others-dad, sending message from Macbook. recognised it as suspect immediately, then went straight here. 100% scam
