Stated they are from the Motor Accident Authority asking if you have been involved in an accident in the last two years. Caller ID shows (02) 8005 0066. They have called me on two different work numbers today. The first time they hung up pretty quickly when I asked how they got this number. The second time I pushed a bit more and he got off the line saying 'sorry, sorry will place you on the do not call register'. So that is two of about 100 numbers *sigh*.

Number came up on display (02) 8005 0066- I did not answer . The next day PRIVATE number and it was guy with indian type accent- scam re the accident. I told him it was a scam but he kept talking. I told him I was not listening and do not ring again, then I hung up. So sick of these calls and telemarketers who ring up to 5 times a day!!!. I feel like getting landline diconnected and just use my mobile.!

Same Same accident compensation, I yelled at him told him I was on the do not call register and I am a retired Police officer (which is true) and I will be passing his number on to the Police and appropriate consumer authorities. He hung up. I know the police can do nothing, but it might keep them away from me.

Did answer first time they called - yes, it was someone at this number was involved in a car accident - told them they were scammers and to get lost, and I would report their number as I am on DNC..They don't give up and keep calling - just don't answer any calls fron unknown numbers. Can someone PLEASE get rid of these people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Same as previous response. Enquiring about someone have been in an accident in the last two years. Asked several questions with "no" response. They then hung up.
Scam callers I'm sure.

This number came up on my phone as an overseas caller. I'm glad I didn't answer after reading these comments

Received a call today. Asked him if he had more details about the accident. He said he was only given our phone number. The Internet blogs gave me a lot of info re this number. Thanks.

This guy is on the go again in Southern Queensland to day. Knew about it, so 'very politely' told him where to go.

Received a call a few minutes ago about an accident and wanting me to confirm. I told them to write and I would consider my options. As the call progressed I asked who he thought he was calling and what number he thought he dialled. The number was way off so I told him I would report the call to the police. he said he was quite comfortable with that.

He called a small charity located in Canberra.

I have just had a call from(02) 8005 0066 saying they were from an motor accident registers and that someone in the house has had a accident in the last two years and that we are liable for compensation...I just starting asking questions and they hung up.

I must have had 25 call yesterday and the day before from these guys. Samuel Johnson from some shonky Insurance company. After hanging up, asking them lots of annoying questions, me giving them the third degree, coz I know its a scam, last call I asked who they were and that I would be sending the police to investigate them because there is a murder investigation in process at the number they have called and I want to know what they know about it. He just totally ignored that and tried to keep telling me about the car accident that the someone here apparently had. I just hung up again. Fortunately no calls today.

I've had calls from this number now for the past 3 weeks and its driving me nutts. Any idea on how to block them

Male with Indian accent called Kingaroy number twice recently. Stated he was from 'Accident Investigation Department'. An absolute 'shonk'.

Had repeated calls from this number but as I didn't recognize and have voice mail let it go through each time they hung up, today I answered it and an Indian guy said hi someone from this number has been involved in a car accident and I'm calling to clarify the details, I just said from this number no mate no one has a car here so you must have the wrong number he said oh ok I'm sorry and hung up....funny tho because ten minutes prior to that I had a conversation from an Asian woman from the "reclaims department" so is figuring they're all targeting my area at the moment....

Had two calls from this number! Both stating an accident has happened in our house over the last two years! On a fishing expedition......don't give them any information. Told them I had their number and was giving it to the AFP.

Had a phone call a couple of weeks ago talking about an insurance claim. I gave over my car rego details as I had just reversed into another car. Then another call came through today and it was a guy with a strong indian accent claiming to be from Sydney from the injury health team in regards to a personal injury compensation claim. I said I wasn't hurt and asked which insurer referred him and he couldn't answer me. I hung up.
I have given over my rego number though and now i am worried as it is a 68 Camaro! has anyone had any drama after the initial phone call?

I have had 2 phone calls from these people over the last couple of months. Indian lady (Ellina)saying she is from Common Laws claim in Sydney. She became confused when I started asking her questions.

They started calling last week, several times a day but hang up when I answer. Last time they called I just let it ring out. Very annoying as we are a business.
